The Costs

Who would ever send a friend to the car auction with an instruction to buy the cheapest? Result £50 spent but no wheels. Despite that many people make precisely that mistake when commissioning Wills.

Nevertheless cost must be an issue so we provide the following as a guide.

Wills - These have a wide range e.g. from £130 for a single person or £150 of a couple with a modest estate to over £550 for those with serious Inheritance Tax liabilities or where there is a desire to protect against the other risks that may arise down the years.

Pension plans and insurances - The paperwork supporting these is provided free within the fee for the Wills.

Lasting Powers of Attorney - £150 for a single person or £250 for a couple excluding registration fees payable to the Office of the Public Guardian of £120 per person.

Advance Directives - £35 each.

Severance of Joint Tenancy - £50-£70 depending on whether it is with the agreement or otherwise of both parties.

Lifetime Document Storage - £45 per case e.g. per couple, waived for the higher cost cases.

Covering Letters - These are of course "free". However they are valuable reference documents providing comprehensive explanations about how the Wills work and of the advantages and disadvantages of the options available.

Obligations Appointments are free - that is to say without obligation on either side. However if drafts are to be produced we do ask for the full fee at that time - refundable if there are drafting problems.
